This was the last operation for EE139/BQ-B, The Phantom of the Ruhr; after 121 operations S/Ldr Caldow grounded the aircraft immediately following the operation as "unfit to fly" (twisted air-frame). According to F/Lt Cassidy: "Willie had to fight hard to control the aircraft the whole way there and the whole way back.".
