After 7 operations with 550 Sqdn the crew were posted from 550 Sqdn to No. 582 Sqdn w.e.f. 13/01/1945, with the exception of the F/O Wright (pilot) who was posted to 582 Sqdn on the 14/01/1945.
F/O Wright (P) and F/Sgt Eastwood (W/OP) lost their lives in tragic circumstances on Friday 13th July 1945 when their 97 Squadron Lancaster crashed shortly after take-off. They were training for deployment to the Far East at the time. [Source: Kevin Bending, 97 Sdqn Historian]
