New Memorial - 80 years later

The Association recently learned about a new memorial to 550 Squadron crews to be unveiled at Fulstow Bridge, Louth Canal, Lincolnshire.
On the night of 23rd/24th December 1943 two Lancaster bombers, ED730 and ND327, of 550 Squadron took off from RAF Grimsby bound for Berlin. They collided at approximately 12,000 feet over Fulstow. The collision resulted in a massive explosion, destroying both aircraft and killing the 14 crew members.
A new Memorial to both crews will be unveiled on Sunday 24th December 2023 at 12 noon at the site of the crash, Fulstow Bridge Louth Canal. Location: LN11 0XP (Heelgate Farm next to canal).
Anyone wishing to attend is more than welcome. Service should take approx: 20-30mins
Many thanks are due to Nicola Pike for having this memorial constructed for 550 air-crew.
